Our lives are connected to those around us, and we are the daily choices we make. Unfortunately, some choices have lasting consequences. For years, I have welcomed first-year students to campus with what some of you have called my Don't Run Over My Children talk about community, safety, and choices. Clearly, we talk about driving and the residents of our community–children, retirees, parents, and even pets.
Today, a community member shared this video with me and he shared his wish that more people might see it. It is a powerful documentary with a simple message. Don't text while driving. It is my hope that before driving back to the Mountain that you might watch it. Share it with your friends and siblings. And then live and drive safely back to your Sewanee home mindful of the lesson.
