Welcome New Midyear Students
Welcome to Sewanee! Below is the tentative schedule for your arrival in January. Please note move in will take place on Sunday, January 15, and you will have two very important meetings (5 p.m. Sunday, January 15 and 9 a.m. Monday, January 16).
If you have not already completed the Transfer Student Housing Form, please do so as soon as possible. Your housing assignment will be emailed to you in January, after we have reviewed your application and found you the best possible placement. We look forward to seeing you on the Mountain.
Other things to do before coming to Sewanee:
- Complete the Student Health Form and send it to Health Services, SPO Box 1182, Sewanee, TN 37383
- Review the Student Health Insurance Policy.
- Submit a waiver to demonstrate proof of health insurance or be automatically enrolled in and charged for health insurance through United Health Care Insurance. (Please note that the waiver form will not be open until December 1, 2011.)
- Submit a picture for your student ID (picture required)
- Family Contact & Communication form
- Read instructions on how to register for classes (FAQ)
- Register to receive text message alerts
- Take the foreign language interest inventory (All students regardless of previous language instruction and future language interest must complete this form.)
- Review the Academic Success website
- Register your car and/or bike.
You will receive your housing assignment via your Sewanee email account during the first week of January. For more information about specific dorms, check out where we live.

You may check in and begin moving into your dorm as early as 8 a.m. Please do not arrive early, as staff will not be available to check you in to your dorm.
New Student Welcome

Join residential life, dean of students staff, and transfer mentors for dinner and to get the lowdown on Sewanee. We will talk about how to navigate your first few days here, tips for academic advising meetings and course registration the next day, and general Sewanee how-to.

New Student Academic Orientation

Torian Room
Dean Larry Jones will explain how course registration works, help you with your PIN, and give you general guidelines for registration. You will follow up with him in a one-on-one meeting at some point later in the day.
Insider's Tour of Campus
Monday, January 16, 11 a.m.
Fulford Hall
Take a tour of campus with an Arcadian. Learn more about Sewanee and its history, and pay attention so you can get to class tomorrow!

Meet with Dean Jones one on one to plan your schedule for the semester. Note: time for these meeting will be scheduled with Dean Jones at the 9 a.m. meeting. He will help you work around sports practices and other conflicts.

Meet at the SOP office in the Bishop's Common
Join the SOP and your fellow transfer students in a trip out on the Domain, where you'll get to know each other and Sewanee a little better. This trip is just for new students.
