Residential Life at Sewanee
Move-In Information for Advent 2013:
Returning students (upperclassmen, non-freshmen, non-transfer student) move-in will be permitted beginning Sunday, August 25.
Check-Out Information for Easter 2013:
Final exams for Easter 2013 end on Wednesday, May 8th. Consistent with past years, the residence halls close for freshmen and sophomores on Thursday, May 9th at noon. It is university policy that freshmen and sophomores are not permitted to stay on campus for graduation week unless they are related to a graduating senior, have some direct involvement with the commencement services, have a varsity athletic commitment, or are responsible for helping to close down the residence halls. This policy was developed to ensure that our full attention can be focused on the experience of our graduating seniors during this important time in their lives. In sum, this means that all freshmen and sophomores are required to return their residence hall keys and check out of their room by 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 9th. This includes all freshmen and sophomores living in theme and Greek housing. If you feel that you should be exempt from this move-out deadline, you must complete this online form by Thursday, May 2nd.
All juniors, seniors, and underclassmen approved to stay late MUST check out of their rooms by noon on Monday, May 13.
Checking out of the residence halls is an important responsibility that you should understand. The check-out process is used to assess the condition of the room and determine whether a resident should be held financially responsible for any damage. During the check-out process, you will be informed of any potential fines related to mess or damage, and will be asked to sign the check-out portion of the Room Condition Report. The Room Condition Report is the same form you signed when checking into your room in August or January. To check out, you should sign up for a check-out appointment time with the appropriate residential life staff member in your building (typically this is the Head Resident, Area Coordinator, or Proctor). Residential life staff will make announcements about when and where the sign-up sheets will be available. Failure to check-out is a $50 fine. You must still return your key to the Office of Residential Life before you leave campus.
NEW THIS YEAR is the option to select Express Check-Out. Key envelopes with instructions about Express Check-Out will be distributed via your SPO box the week of April 29th.
